 May 2-4: Snyder's Pow Wow.   34th Annual Valley Springs Pow Wow.  Over 200 vendors of Rocks-Minerals-Gems, on a working cattle ranch. Food, original music, Native American Indian dancing, RC airplane show, jewelry, crafts, music, camping, antique steam engines, field trips, BBQ, radio controlled airplanes, Indians and Mountain men too. May 2 - 3 - 4: Firemen's Muster. Columbia is the home of volunteer fire crews from around the western United States. These men and women travel to the park to participate in a variety of events designed to test their skills in modern and historic fire fighting endeavors. Hose cart races, bucket brigade competition and hand pumper contests are just a few of the events scheduled. There is a parade on Saturday and a dance that night. Columbia State Historic Park

May 10: Triathlon.  16th Annual.  1000 yard swim, 16 mile bike, 4 mile run. Event start time 8:30 am. Check-in and race day registration opens 7:00 am. New Melones Reservoir Glory Hole Entrance, Angels Camp. What a way to begin the season! A fast, fun, warm and scenic course that concludes with a great barbecue which includes beer too! Awards include carved soapstone trophies for the overall male & female and carved glass trophies for the top masters. Medals will be 3 deep in 10-year age increments to 70+.

May 10: Gold Rush Days. Exhibits, hands-on activities, park docents in period attire. Columbia State Historic Park

May 10 - 11: Mother Lode Round-Up Parade & Rodeo, Sonora.  Break out your boots and Stetsons and celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with us Round-Up style! This year marks the 51st anniversary of the Mother Lode Round-Up that takes place in the historic town of Sonora. Saturday’s parade is recognized as the second largest parade in California. Every year more than 350 of pro rodeo’s finest cowboys and cowgirls are attracted to two days of the Mother Lode Round-Up Rodeo event.  (209)928-8318

May 11:  Mother’s Day Brunch at Ironstone Vineyards.

May 14 - 18: Calaveras County Frog Jumping Jubilee.  The world-renowned Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee has a rich heritage dating back to the 1800’s.   This “Old-Fashion County Fair” features exhibits, entertainment, rodeo, horse events, livestock exhibits and the best little carnival in the west.  Held at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Hwy 49, Angels Camp.

May 29 – June 1:  Columbia Diggins 1852. Recreated 1852 town of tents and shacks which sprung up in the wake of the discovery of gold.  Live music, gambling and games of the period. 

May 31:  Calaveras Winegrape and Gourmet, Calaveras Fairgrounds, Angels Camp.
