August 9: 13th Annual Sonora Blues Festival. Featuring the best in Blues on 3 stages, which includes the very popular Workshop Stage/Question/Answer.

August 9:  Gold Rush Days. Exhibits, hands-on activities, park docents in period attire.  Columbia State Park.

August 16:  FAMILY DAY at Calaveras Big Trees.  Live Birds of Prey, Carriage Rides, Live Butterflies, Miwok   Demonstrations, Nature Crafts, Story Telling, Arts of Bear Valley Exhibit, Sun Spot Viewing, Live Music, Smokey Bear, Cocked Hat Bowling, Fly Fishing Demos, BBQ, Ice Cream, Baked Goods, Lots More!

August 25:  Back to School 1861.  Open house at the old schoolhouse on the hill!  Experience an 1860’s class in session.  Columbia State Park. 

August 30 - 31: Logging Jamboree. 12th Annual Sierra Nevada Logging Jamboree. Featuring log competitions, music, food, things for kids to do, tours. Bring the family for a fun day 11am-4pm each day. White Pines Lake, Arnold. (209)278-1407

August 31:  Bear Valley Triathlon.  16^th Annual!  What a way to spend Sunday! Nestled in a beautiful Sierra location, the course is hilly but incredibly scenic. Truly a fun and fast Triathlon. Water temperature will be approximately 70 (+2); wet suits allowed but are not necessary. Air temperature will be 70. The bike is a rolling, climbing loop course. The run is rolling road.
